The 2nd annual Prince and Princess of Plastic competition at the MSU climbing wall is coming up next Saturday and Sunday. This grassroots event started last year after the inauguration of the new wall that moved from the Romney Gym to the Magra Hosaeus Fitness Center put on by the Vertigo Climbing Club. Last year I was able to help set and give some advice about all the rules and scoring for a competition because of my comp experience. This year I’ve been asked to come set again and to help out with a Technique Clinic from 12pm to 1pm both days.
This year we really tried hard to make this event a lot better than last year. Part of making the event better than before was the addition of the MSU Student made Movie, the Slackline competition, and the two technique clinics. With all the extra events we decided to split the festival into two days and hopefully give people more room to compete. The vice-president of Vertigo Kevin Volkening put most of the effort into making this event happen and went out of his way to get some amazing raffle prizes for everyone.
The List of Sponsors includes: Big Sky Resort, Black Diamond, Evolv, Arc’Teryx, Prana, So iLL holds, Edelrid, Detroit Rock Climbing Company, Northern Lights Trading Company, ProLite Gear, MSU Book Store, Montana Ale Works, First Interstate Bank, MSU Food Services, Moberry, La Parrilla, Owen House Bike Shop, The Round House, Helly Hanson, The Cateye Cafe, The Nova Cafe, Tarantino’s Pizza, Gallatin Valley Cinema, Naked Noodle, and The Garage
