Over the last year and a half I’ve been able to go on two longer climbing trips. Last year I went to Joe’s valley for the week before Thanksgiving with Jeff and Holmer, then I went to Red Rocks with Joe and Leigh for Spring Break last March. I really loved both of these trips, so this year I’ve planned to take at least two week long trips again. I’m leaving right now to go to Joe’s Valley again with David and Joanna for about 7 to 9 days (I think it will depend on the weather and how long our fingers last). And for now I’m tentatively planning on going to Smith Rocks in March for Spring Break too.
Joe’s seems like the place to be for Thanksgiving break. Besides Jo, David and I, Jeff, Jared, Kelsey, Holmer, Kyle, Joe, and Erik will be there as well. Its going to be a major party from Bozeman descending down on Joe’s valley for the last of the warm dry weather before winter finally closes out the rock season for the year. David and Jo are the only two who haven’t been to Joe’s before but with so many other people I’m sure that they will get a good tour of the area.
I’ve got a few projects in mind going back down but I think between the weather (see below) and my interesting foot situation (thanks Adam and Joe!) we’ll see if any of them get done. Heres a list of the stuff I found online and remembered from last year that looked good (the guidebook is out of print now and the new one doesn’t come out unil next year grrrr)
Jitterbug Perfume Video
No Substance Video
Skeleton Key Video
The Porn King Video
I’m sure there will be a ton more but without a guidebook I’m kind of lost trying to find projects without one.
So getting to the weather… I checked it a few days ago and it didn’t look pretty for our first few days. Snow Suturday; even in Elmo out by Triassic…. 1 to 3 inches expected in Joe’s and rain/snow mix in Triassic. So I honestly don’t know what we are going to do stick it out at Joe’s or try to move around the storm. I’ve decided that its I’m going to enjoy this trip if the weather cooperates with me or not, it’s going to be good to get away from school for a while.
